Description:

Similar to Monopoly , but instead of buying real estate, players acquire plots of land and plant a variety of crops in the hopes that the harvest will pay out big. However, with each harvest comes the unavoidable cost of doing business (fertilizer, equipment breakdown, purchasing new seeds, labor problems, etc.). The first player who has a total net worth (including land, equipment, livestock, etc.) of $250,000 becomes a "Full Time Farmer" and wins the game.

4lots of laughterJul 17, 2008
My teen children have enjoyed this game. Every time they play this game I hear lots of laughter coming from the dining room table.

5Game worth getting!Jun 25, 2008
Similar to Monopoly, but it's definitely its own game. The theme of this game makes it stand out and makes it unique. A lot of it is luck, the roll of the die decides, but there is strategy too. You'll want to play it over and over!

5Great Family Game!Mar 13, 2008
Our family has owned and played The Farming Game for quite a few years now, and it remains a favorite. My teenage son was recently comparing it to Monopoly, noting how, in Monopoly, one player gets richer at the expense of the other players, who get poorer. On the other hand, every player can get rich in The Farming Game--but the one who gets richest the quickest, wins. I like the fact that you don't have to be nasty to the other players in order to advance yourself. Winning depends on the decisions you make, and the roll of the die. We also like the reality part of it, having some farmers in the family who know the ups and downs of a small family farm. The Farming Game is a lot of fun and is one of those timeless games I can well envision playing for years to come.

5Best Game EVER!Nov 29, 2007
I grew up in Eastern Washington playing this game ALL THE TIME. It's great because you play not only against other players, but also against nature and luck--just like real farming. The key to winning: Fruit. Buy all the fruit you can. Cows are good too.

There have been many a night when several of us have stayed up 'till the crack of dawn playing the Farming Game. Running out of paper money doesn't have to stop play, just make up a few really big bills from post-its, paper shards, whatever, and keep playing. So much fun!

I caught my mother trying to sell my childhood game of this at a yard sale for 25 cents. I still play that one, but the pieces don't stick to board quite as well as they used to 20 years ago. Oh well.

Buy this game. You'll love it. Enough rambling...got farming to do!

4Farming Game teaches money managementFeb 12, 2007
The Farming Game has been a hit in my household. Has gotten my teenager into learning how to manage a business and track hs finances.
This game does that even better than Monopoly and has some real world farming scenarios that are very different from other property games.
