Description:
This is a card and word game for 1-8 players. In the non-solitaire versions, the game consists of 8 rounds. In the first, each player is dealt three cards; in the second, four; and so on with the final round being 10 cards. Each card has one or two letters and a point value. At their turn, players can draw a card from the top of the discard pile or from the deck. They must discard one card. When a player is able to use all the cards in his hand (with one left for discarding) to spell words (which must use a minimum of two cards each), he may go out by placing the words on the table. The other players then get one more draw, and must play as many cards as they can. Scoring is done by adding up the point value of all cards used in words and subtracting any left over in the hand (not counting the discard card). In addition, the player with the most words and the player with the longest word each get 10 bonus points. If two or more players tie for a bonus, that bonus is not given in that round.

a fun cross between Gin and ScrabbleJul 21, 2008 This is a fun game. The rules are similar to Gin -- get each card in your hand into a straight before your opponent does and you win. But instead of suits and numbers each card has a letter or pair of letters, and the goal is to make words. The first hand is 3 cards, the second hand is 4 cards, etc...on up to 13 cards.
I like this game because unlike Scrabble, the person with the amazing vocabulary doesn't always win, because several short words are just as effective in using up your cards as one long word. (In fact, you get a 10 point bonus for either longest word OR most words). So my 8 year olds aren't outgunned by their word-loving elders.
As a nice plus, the art work on the cards themselves is well done.
The only minus is that the deck is double sized (110 cards) and so shuffling is a bear. Would also have been nice if they included a container that held the whole deck (instead it comes with a tray that has slots for 2 half decks.)
Quiddler GameJun 30, 2008 Lots of fun to play! We are all adult ladies, senior citizens, and we love this game. It is challenging and keeps your mind active.
Very Fun Game!!!May 19, 2008 My friend introduced me to this game while on a women's retreat. We had so much fun that as soon as I got home, I went to Amazon to find it. My husband and son enjoy playing it with me. Even our 6 year old daughter plays (with a little help from her mom). I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who likes Scrabble or other word games. It's a good way to build your child's vocabulary. Even better, there are no little pieces to lose--it's just cards!
Boggle, Scrabble, and a little bit more.May 12, 2008 For those who enjoy stretching their verbal abilities a little bit and doing puzzles, Quiddler is a great addition to the games closet. It is a quick learn, easy to play, and more accessible and portable than most other word games. Easy enough for children, clever enough for adults.
Family FunMay 09, 2008 I was introduced to this game by my daughter and son-in-law. After playing at their home, I had to purchase it for my own use. It is a fun, fast paced word game that helps to build vocabulary and spelling skills.
