Hard to fit parts; too long for a 3 year old; too frustrating for a 5 year oldMay 09, 2008 The object of the game is to build a cootie-- body, head, legs, eyes, etc. A person must first roll a one to get a body, then a two to get a head, then other numbers to get other parts. This afternoon it took FOREVER for my 5 year old to roll a one, then a two. (She wouldn't play any other way except by the rules, and those are the rules). My 3 year old couldn't concentrate long enough to get enough parts to build a cootie, although he did pretty well. We finally stopped and just built cooties. The parts don't fit well. Little kids need help putting in the parts, and the parts fall out too. Not fun.

Fun Game, Very Poor QualityDec 14, 2007 My 3 yo son loves this game and has a ton of fun with it. He's even having fun playing with the game alone during his quiet time.
The big problem: I wish game makers would stop using the cheapest plastic and paper they can find. The peices don't fit properly into the cootie bodies and many either fall off or can't be squeezed into the holes. It's so frustrating. Two of the small peices broke off and are still stuck in the holes in the cootie body so we can't use those pieces or the body anymore. What a dissapointment.

breaks immediatelySep 25, 2007 Although my kids really liked this game, a bunch of the legs broke almost immediately and when the bug is put together, parts continuously fall off. Not well made at all and ultimately ended up in the trash.

Cute bugs, poor game...Sep 13, 2007 There are many early board games that are so much better than this one. (Hi Ho Cherry-O is one of my favorites.) The object is to roll a die to collect the cootie parts to put one together. You have to get the body first, which means you spend the first several turns waiting for a certain number. Many preschoolers will be bored before they even get started. Also, the legs go in at an awkward angle and my four-year-old is frequently frustrated when he can't do it himself and when they fall out again. I'd have given it one star, but the bugs are cute. You might have some fun playing with them if you don't actually try to play the game.

Still fun, but I want the old version back!Apr 17, 2007 This is a fun fame for the preschool crowd, but I don't care for the updated version. I remember playing this game where all pieces were the same - all the legs the same, all the eyes the same, all the ears the same, and all the mouths were tongues. Now there is a variety which can lead to... what else? Fighting. Or at least sulking and hurt feelings.
Yes it can take forever to play, especially if you follow the rules... so we don't. We just take pieces whatever we roll, we don't wait to get a 1 or 2 before taking anything else.
Seems my son always gets distracted before all the legs are collected - getting 6 sixes can be time consuming. So really, I don't think we've ever finished a game, more just put it away. But the point is to have fun, and it is fun while it lasts.
Not the best game out there, but has a place in everyone's game library.
FWIW We have not had problems with the bugs being hard to put together or not staying together... but the piece board is a bad idea. If you put everything on it and the legs in the holes, and the other pieces roll/jump all over when you pull the legs out. We we just pile the legs up at the bottom edge.
