Description:
As card games go, this one is quite revolutionary. Perhaps its oddest feature is that you cannot rearrange your hand, as you need to play the cards in the order that you draw them. The cards are colorful depictions of beans in various descriptive poses, and the object is to make coins by planting fields (sets) of these beans and then harvesting them. To help players match their cards up, the game features extensive trading and dealmaking. Strategy and Fun! This great card game is about planting, trading, and selling beans - 11 kinds of beans -this English version includes all the cards from the original game and the first expansion-. Players try to collect large sets of beans to sell for gold. There is limited growing space and always new beans to plant. To avoid planting unwanted beans, players trade them to other players who want them for their bean fields. -ages 10+- 2-7 players

Better with more people, but even with three it's still pretty funJun 30, 2008 I have a hard time convincing others to play this game, which is why I usually seem to play three-handed.
The trouble with a three person game is that you don't have enough competition. Less competition, and the trading is less cut-throat and intense. So if you think you'll rarely have four or more people to play, it might not be worth it.
Incidentally - don't think of it as a "bean farmer" game. Think of it, more honestly, as a ruthless and cut-throat game of trading.
Beantastic!!May 19, 2008 Our family loves the Bean game, as we call it. Our 8 and 10 year old learned how to play the first game. The game teaches how to manage your "money". Great for learning organizing, planning and analyzing skills.
Probably the fairest game I've ever playedJan 03, 2008 This is a great game. At no point I would say does even the leading player have dominance over the other people. This is largely because this game forces you to trade with other people. And they don't have to accept trades from you, giving even losing players, some leverage.
The game is pretty simple, collect enough bean cards of a certain type in order sell them for coins. The coins are the bean cards flipped over. There are three rounds of play, so trying to remember what bean cards were flipped to be coins, does add an interesting element of chance to the game.
I would encourage players to stay within the rules. It's easy to develop house rules that break the game mechanics and spoil the game.
Very fun game for all ages!!Dec 25, 2007 This game sounds complicated in the instructions, but once you learn how to play it's so much fun! It's a game that my whole family can play together and enjoy!
Fun for allNov 23, 2007 This game is fun for 4 or more people. We have played this a couple of times and every time we've had so much fun trading and planting! I'd recommend this to people who have enjoyed playing: Ticket to Ride, Power Grid, or Tichu. It always turns out to be very, very competitive...but I imagine that the personalities of the players play a big role also.
